Gillian Bolwell

British born Australian artist, Gillian Bolwell, living in the Mornington Peninsula area since 1960, has been painting and selling steadily since 1975 with works privately owned in Australia, New Zealand, S.E. Asia, U.S.A., U.K., Canada, Europe and South America.

Gillian favours the “Genre” tradition and enjoys painting visual narratives of Australian rural life.  She is basically self-taught and is inspired by several artists including Breughal the Elder, S.T. Gill and L.S. Lowry. Since 1987 she has been teaching drawing skills and painting in oil, acrylic and water-colour to groups of adults.

Gillian is included in the 2nd and 3rd editions of “Australian Artists Today” and in 1991 and 1993 won 1st prize in the Meeker Classic Art Competition Colorado, U.S.A.

Gillian is a member of the McClelland Guild of Artists, the Peninsula Arts Society, the McClelland and Mornington Regional Galleries and the Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society.
